Summerlin Branch

This branch of Pioneer Citizen's Bank was designed as a prototype branch, to be located on small sites in densely developed areas. The exterior elevations area direct response to site configurations. The basic building is rectangular with compressed street frontage, a result of the small, narrow site. A white diamond pushes through this mass to provide the entrance canopies and to create strong angled faces appropriate for the view corridors associated with narrow sites. Slate is used to clad the base, invoking stability and simplicity. To prevent this material from dominating the building and dehumanizing its scale, the stone is only applied up to 12'-0" with traditional stucco filling the remainder of the wall height.

The slate is carried into the interior as well, and applied up to 8'-0" to provide a human scale. The lobby's public spine is opened up by a high volume atrium with numerous skylights. From this area the public spaces are all easily visible: the three new accounts desks, the four person writing area, the vault entrance, and the six teller stations, which also serve the drive-thru lanes. This visibility reaffirms the bank's image of accessibility.

Downtown Branch

The need for a prominent downtown location compelled Nevada State Bank to build a main branch at the important intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Bridger Avenue. The 10,000 square foot structure addresses the importance of this corner with a voluminous, two-story glass lobby nestled between massive slate-tile forms. This monumental street facade is tempered on the parking side with a smaller scale tile form and lush desert landscaping.

The building is divided into three principal areas. Located on the ground floor is the 4,600 square foot full service bank, which includes an executive conference room and eight teller stations, which service the comfortable customer lobby and three drive-thru lanes. The inviting two-story glass lobby also serves the second floor lease space. The long sides of this rectilinear space offers expansive views of the downtown area. The richness of the multi-colored slate is brought into the interior with marble tile, furniture and fixtures in a variety of earth-tone colors.

The $1.2 million dollar budget has given Nevada State Bank the opportunity to construct a facility which reflects their expanded presence in Nevada.
