The desire of the owners was to emulate the architectural character of Italian Renaissance buildings, which they admired on their many trips to Italy. Recognizing the constraints of this type of monumental construction, it was decided that a simplified version of a Palladian Villa would be an appropriate solution and that by substituting locally-available materials and standardizing certain details, the client’s budget requirements could still be met. A multi-hue concrete tile roof closely resembles traditional 17th Century Italian slate roofs, and along with the 8'-0" high stone veneer base and the 30'-0" high Corinthian columns supporting a classical temple portico, an attempt was made to retain both the classical proportions of Palladio and the timeless durability of Italian Renaissance buildings.

From a leasability perspective, the building plan is highly efficient (nearly 85% leasable area) and versatile, both of which were of great importance to the client. Of equal concern was the desire to reflect the company’s attention to quality and detail in their own office space. Opulent materials and intricate detailing were employed in the lobbies, including marble and granite floors, a classical cascading staircase, stone-esque balusters and coffered ceilings.

The same eclectic quality used in the buildings was further extended to the site and landscape design, where visitors and clients are greeted by boxwood parterres, flower and water gardens, and patterned/colored concrete driveways.
